Actually we did get a bunch of hits off DeGrom. The Bucs are the only team to get as many as 8 hits off him this year.

17 consecutive scoreless innings for Williams.

Williams was classic Williams.  He lacks the weapons and confidence to go right at people,  but he is plenty confident to nibble, battle, and pitch defensively.  He knows where the land mines are and he meticulously navigates around them.  Another job well done.

Absolutely incredible.

A shutout win over Kluber.

A shutout win over deGrom.

Trevor Williams wins 'em both.

Great, great wins. I am shocked.

All-around great game tonight.

Buccos have won 15 of 18. Wow.

Pirates only have 1 more game before the trade deadline.

The most games they can possibly be back in the WC race as of Tuesday afternoon is 4 games ... and of course it could 2 or 3 games.

Bottom line, Neal can't look at that deficit and think "this team is out of it."

Now I'm not predicting he'll actually do anything meaningful (I'm sure he won't), but at least he can't say "the team is out of it" or "it's a shame the team lost 4 of its last 5" or anything along those lines.

He's going to have to deal with the reality that this team is IN THE RACE as of the trade deadline.

How is he going to respond ???

just got back from dinner and see the Bucs have won. Great to beat Degrom and have a shut out with Williams out there. Nice that Vasquez got a day off too.

35,900, biggest crowd in a long time.

Shaping up to be yet again another huge Sunday afternoon game for the Pirates today. The Pirates this year seem to have had some huge losses on Sunday afternoon home games the games to the Padres and Cardinals in May come to mind. And also done huge wins the game against the Brewers two weeks ago today. The opportunity is there to take 3 of 4 from the Mets, and to also go 5 games over .500 which I believe is the absolute minimum you have to be at to be taken seriously as a playoff contender or wildcard team. I’m hoping to see Meadows back in the lineup today now that he has been called back up to take Dickerson’s place until he comes back. I’m fine now with a first base platoon of both Osuna and Freese until Bell is healthy as I think they can manage to get by with that. I just hope today that Clint  doesn’t pull the Sunday lineup crap with the off day on Monday by giving guys like Polanco the day off today. Play your best lineup and let’s get out of this Mets series today with 3 out of 4.

Of all the uneven results that come out of a major league season one of the most notable this year has been Adam Frazier's bat. I never thought he would struggle the way he has. He looked good last night and I hope it indicates he has made some refinements that will lead to a big finish.

Yes if he can hit like he usually does that's a nice utility player, ph. I would love too see an upgrade somewhere on our infield, anything really. Not just a body, I mean a real noticeable upgrade over a current player. Too bad Kang got injured he could've been that piece we need.

Yes the Kang wrist injury has been really dissapointing. Kang at 3b and Freese at 1b (at the least while Bell is injured now) could have been a substantial improvement to the IF defensively. Osuna is fine defensively at 1b but doesn't seem to be able to hit yet in the bigs.
