The streak was really fueled by Dickerson, Marte and Polanco collectively hitting like ballplayers possessed by a threatened return to A ball and having to ride on buses.

Collectively, they have now cooled off and the much welcomed contributions from Frazier, Freese, Bell and occasionally Cervelli are not enough to make up for all of them forgetting how to hit at the same time.

The window is closing on this year. Dickerson, Marte and Polanco all need to refind their stroke. Still time to make a run, but it will take something like the Cardinals had done entering last night; 9 of 11.

I also don't understand why Frazier was not in the line-up.

Could have scored a few more there and maybe broken game open. I'm all for a laser calling balls and strikes, too many umpires have "their" strike zone.
I couldn't agree more. Too many old school umpires pulling their BS.

The Pirates also need to start playing Frazier more and bench JHay for now. He is swinging a hot bat and needs to be in the lineup until he cools off. As I mentioned last night there are now 42 games remaining and the Pirates are 5 games out of a playoff spot. They are going to really need a streak of something like 9 of 22 or something like that. This win one game lose two games then win another game is not going to work here moving forward very soon. A long streak of wins at some point needs to happen and happen soon.
The dreaded Polanco tailspin has returned. This is why I would consider trading him. He is so frustrating. I fully expect he will disappear for a large part of the remaining schedule.
