Colin Moran over Kang?

Post by SammyKhalifa »

There's a pretty strong delineation between good hitters and super bad ones so far really.

Good:

Josh Bell

Melky

Frazier

JB Shuck (!)

Moran

Jason Martin

Turriubull:

Gonzalez

Kang

Cervelli

Pablo Reyes' OPS+ is a negative number somehow which I didn't even know was a thing

The only player I'd say is roughly average is Marte.  I mean he's hitting below average but not to such a ridiculous degree.

I'd say Shuck has been an average hitter. His PH single yesterday raised his BA from .231 to .259. He had one 2-hit game so far. But he's drawn 7 BBs in 36 PAs for a fine OBP of .429. I think he's outperformed the expectations but his ability to draw walks looks like his strong suit rather than his ability to hit.

Well yeah, if he was going to be a good hitter he probably wouldn't be a 29-YO journeyman AAAA guy.
