I think we can agree that we don’t want Archer on the mound in a Wildcard game.

I don't disagree with you on any of that. But he is so tantalizing to watch. He has incredible stuff. He has gotten some really bad swings from these Cubs hitters. Of course, then he'll throw an absolute meatball. He's got the stuff to be great.

Archer is essentially the equivalent of a #5 pitcher. You hope to get 5 innings out of him without having him blow the game by then.

giving up homers about every 4 innings doesn't help.

An absolutely disastrous 8th inning there as the Pirates get 3 hits out of the 4 guys that came up and don’t score a run that’s pretty hard to do. You just cannot get picked off there if your Marte with Bell up and nobody out down a run. Very frustrating sequence of events that entire inning. This is gonna be a frustrating loss to deal with if the Pirates fail to come back and win this game.
