According to the Post Gazette Bob Nutting has not decided who will return or not return in 2020. It sounds like Hurdle’s fate has not yet been determined.

Interesting. Maybe NH was acting out the terms of his contract until told otherwise, and mentioned to Hurdle privately what he intended, with Hurdle then speaking slightly out of turn.

Regardless of what happened behind the scenes, the fact that Hurdle told a reporter that he would be returning before it is officially announced by the front office tells me he is far too comfortable with his job status after this disaster of a season.

Good point! Maybe another contract extension. Bucs are tied for the best record in MLB since Tuesday.

MLBTR reporting (per the Athletic) that Hurdle is out, new manager will hire staff.
