We aren't going to be able to resign him. If someone wants to offer a ton for him, I'd move him now. His value could go down again in 2020.

Agreed. With the juiced balls and what-not, would Will Craig really be that big of a drop off? Personally, I doubt it. Trade Bell while his value is high. Of course, that’s assuming there’s a taker.

Rational or not, I have this fear that we will trade Bell and he will immediately have a 50 plus homer season for some other team.

I wouldn't care as long as they got something good for him. Via arbitration, his salary will steadily increase in the millions for 2020, 2021 and 2022 and then he's a free agent in 2023. To increase his trade value, he has to be dealt with at least 1 if not 2 years of control. Plus, Nutting won't want to be paying the larger arb increases as Bell gets closer to free agency. So it's likely that 2020 or 2021 at the latest will be his final year as a Pirate. So even if he was hitting 50 HRs for this weak Pirate team, it wouldn't get them very far before he left. Ideally, he would have a monster year for the Pirates in 2020 and have a ton of trade value to deal him after that. As long as the new GM doesn't follow the NH trade philosophy of quantity over quality or dealing good players for bad ones.

GM Search Down to 3 Candidates per MLBTRs.

List Blue Jays VP Ben Cherington, Brewers Ass't GM Matt Arnold, and a mystery candidate speculated to be Bucs acting GM Kevin Graves.

Gonna be an interesting few days!

I believe the GM meetings start today. I would assume Kevin Graves is there on team behalf?

Praying its Arnold. Don't want Graves. If you are turning over things, no sense elevating someone who served under NH.

Maybe he's good? I mean I have no idea but don't think that should be disqualifying. That's just as wrongheaded on insisting on someone from Pittsburgh roots or whatever.

You just canned the GM of the Pirates for a specific reason. The AGM has trained below the guy you just canned and learned possibly some bad habits. If you are unloading everyone, you need a fresh break, not someone that has been here.
