The Bucs again have the worst record in baseball giving them the #1 pick in next year’s draft. Boston is right behind Pittsburgh.

The Nats are nipping at the Bucs heals they are 12 -23 and we are 11-24. Who knows possibly MLB will change the draft position rules this year due to the 60 game season, and the worst record will not get the #1 pick. After winning the World Series last year the Nats have had a rough season.

Texas and Boston now have the same winning percentage as the Pirates. It is going to be interesting as to which team ends the season with the worst record, and how MLB will establish the 2021 Draft standings. It is just Pittsburgh’s luck that the large market Red Sox get the #1 pick.

The Bucs are heading into the final week of this 60 game season, and they are in position to get the #1 pick in the 2021 draft. MLB has been very silent about the upcoming draft order, and I am beginning to wonder if there will be some revised method for next years draft. I have read that possibly MLB will hold a lottery, or even take the team records for the 2019 and 2020 seasons to determine the order. I am beginning to doubt if Rocker will become a Pirate.

If there is a change to the draft process, it will be a lottery. That gives them a TV event like the NBA draft lottery.

My prediction? Draft lottery. The league has been using "hey it's a pandemic" as a way to experiment with a lot of stuff this year and I think the draft will be another one.

Ben's comments make sense to me. The number of rounds next year will probably be smaller than normal too maybe 15 -20. I think the teams liked the idea of not paying anyone signed as a free agent no more than 20k.

Looks like I was wrong! Jeff Passan is reporting that the draft order will be based on 2020 standings.

I hope he is right about that. The Bucs could use the #1 pick, and then develop him into an ace.
