Exactly. Most players take several years before they reach their peak. Especially pitchers. Even many HOFers. If the Pirates get a guy who begins to reach his potential in year 3, he'll have to be traded in year 4 before he walks in year 5. It's already an awful system. The owners need more control; not less.
