Seeing as Crick and Feliz have basically done very little, a very low bar for any replacement. :)

Frankly, I don't see why they offered Crick a contract over the winter; he has no control.

Perhaps Feliz can establish some value by pitching well over a short stretch at the right time, but that is likely being overly optimistic.

Unfortunately, neither of them being on the roster likely holds anyone back. So, see how they do this spring, If there are better options, go with the better options and don't look back. However, if replacements are not ready to go, either could hang around for a while until someone stands out (okay, looks half decent) at the minor league level.

I view part of this year as the pitching just trying to survive a 162 game schedule. If Crick or Feliz get shelled, why care? Conversely, I would hate to see someone like Luis Oveido taking an extended beating.

I agree it is not saying much, but they signed a much better pitcher like Shreve for nothing in the offseason. Feliz and Crick are not young anymore, and they know they suck. Would rather see them add a pitcher from another organization that they might be able to turn it around in a new organization. They also have 10 relievers (Plus some others that could easily be ready for the majors) that will not make the roster with MLB experience, so not like they would be forced to use Oveido more than planned just because those two are gone.

I suppose someone would claim them off waivers since they are relatively cheap for most teams. Just seems dumb for the Pirates to waste time with them.

I agree on Feliz but not on Crick. His curve/slider whatever it is he throws has tremendous movement. I think he would be successful if we had a electronic strike zone but with every umpire calling strikes a ball depending on the ump it's pretty hard to have success. The umps just can't follow a pitch that moves as much as his pitches do. It's a shame we are still uses biased umps who can change the outcome of a game when they're is a solution but MLB won't deploy it. I say keep Crick.

It is early, but so far Rich Rod, Chris Stratton and Oviedo have not pitched in a ST game. I am sure the Pirates want to see what they have with a number of pitchers now in camp. One would expect Oviedo to break camp with the team since he is a Rule 5 pick. I guess they know what to expect from Rich Rod, and Stratton so why pitch them so early in ST.
