I doubt he makes it back on to the 40 man roster, barring injuries.

I want to be clear that I didn’t hate Polanco the person.  I hated the way Polanco played baseball.

I won’t celebrate a person losing his job, but this is about building a better baseball team.  He’s been a roadblock to that end for too long.  Professional baseball has always been a cutthroat existence.  He’s simply underperformed.  For the greater good of the organization, this is long overdue but I’m glad that it’s now finally happened so that management can begin to evaluate other players sooner than next season.

He seems to be a good person who’s well-liked by his teammates.  He’s made a lot of money in his time here and should never want for anything throughout his lifetime, so I can’t feel sorry for him.  He had an opportunity few receive, but he didn’t make the most of it.  I sincerely hope he has a long, wonderful life ahead.

This is long overdue. He fell off a cliff after that shoulder injury, and was a shell of the player he had been, even though that players was, at best, slightly over-average to average.

Would not be surprised to see an AL team take a flyer on him as a bench bat/part-time DH

agreed Javy, right now doc is dancing in the street and you can bet that he is so excited that he won't get any sleep tonight.

I will be anxious to read what Shedman has to say

What he can’t say is that this was a salary dump, but he will anyway.

And that's a wrap on the final player from the WC game era. I'll miss your smile almost as much as you miss the ball.

But I won't miss you in the lineup. Good luck and thanks for all the fish.
:D :D :D Love the reference!

The Pirates just got better. Alford is supposed to come off the IL tomorrow. It appears that's what they were waiting for and Polanco did nothing during that time to save his job.
