That game was everything that was philosophically wrong with the Yankees. They have one really dominant starter (that has occasionally proven he's not a big game pitcher) and a really good bullpen. And they have a line up of huge HR hitters but absolute strikeout machines. The reality is that a huge number of HRs are hit off bad pitching throughout the season. The post season, largely, has no bad pitchers. The rotation/bullpen scrubs largely don't pitch. Those HR hitters aren't going to see the scrubs they've been padding their stats with all season in the playoffs. They will see top pitcher (usually high strikeout guys). That said, the Yankees did hit Eovaldi pretty well in the regular season. That Yankee lineup is sexy in the regular season, but they are never going to win in the playoffs as currently constructed.

From MLB.com: "Cole’s teams have lost four of his five career “win or go home” contests, including last year’s Game 5 of the AL Division Series against the Rays."

I remember one of those games in particular.

Bingo!

That's the beauty of PS play AND the beauty of winning the division or roll the dice on the WC GAME, not games.  If you don't win your division, you'd better bring it that night.  If you don't, you have 0 second chance. Don't deserve one.
