2 hits Sunday.

3 hits Monday.

Both days with lineups that seemed to be a lot weaker than they needed to be. Just as in recent years, hot hitters are benched, weak hitters are put in key lineup spots. Sheltington still seems to manage as if these are ST games where performance is not a factor in determining lineups. Just throw a bunch of names out there and see what they can do. Sometimes they get lucky. Sunday's 1 run on 2 hits game was a win because the pitchers gave up 0 runs. But had they given up 2 or more runs, all the focus would have been on the ridiculous lineup Sheltington used. They're still 6-4 but how long before the counterproductive managing sends them hurtling toward last place? The people making game time decisions for this team appear to be utterly clueless. I suspect much of it is based on metrics from the team's backroom computer nerds. Because the Pirates always act like they are smarter than everyone else. It's not their fault that their vastly superior intelligence in constructing a winning team goes unnoticed because of all the losing. ;)

Bobster, Bobster, Bobster! They've played 10 games with two off days sprinkled in. You can't expect 20-somethings to be able to withstand those rigors and not succumb to total exhaustion, can you? Mother Shelton is just looking out for his brood, making sure everyone is at his best when called upon, every few days or so.

Right, Doc! The Pirates' clever roster/lineup manipulation has kept them strong the past 2 years and enabled them to go 21-37 for September thru the end of 2021 and 22-38 for September thru the end of 2022. Sheltington should bottle that formula and sell it to the other teams! :D

I'd hate to read reactions if we were 4-6.  Just goes to show that we don't have exclusive rights to questionable management and direction.

Under the microscope, we're 0-1 vs. the defending world champions at home.

Under the periscope, we won an away series against a bad team, swept an away series against another bad team, and won a home series against a decent team.

So, it depends how one looks at it.

i can't believe that Shelton does more than maybe decide if a guy scheduled to sit sits out Saturday night or Sunday. Maybe. i think how much guys play even over the course of a week comes to him in a spreadsheet.
