What the hell happened.  We were a hit away from Newman from being 10-9, or a homer from being 10-10 not too long ago when I turned it off.  LOL.
Hurdle had already said the entire back end of the BP was getting the game off. So we know he wasn't trying to win. The only chance was a very strong, hopefully 7 inning outing from Brault. Brault was even staked to a 4-0 lead but couldn't have been worse and didn't make it thru the 3rd. So we get the parade of AAA pitchers to pitch the rest. Now the Buc batters seem to be trying to get the game over with and have struck out the last 6 times. The game also featured yet another in a long series of coaching gaffes by Cora who had Reyes cut down at the plate in the 3rd trying to score from 2B on a ground ball to the second baseman when it was only a 5-4 game. Obviously, the Pirates are a bad team. Their record proves that. But it's just embarrassing to have a manager not trying to win, a coach not knowing how to coach, a parade of AAA relievers who can't get MLB hitters out, and batters who just want to strike out and go back to the hotel.

According to the Post Gazette:

Brault became the first pitcher in baseball history to allow 10 earned runs and five home runs in a start of three or fewer innings.

and

The Pirates have allowed 10 or more runs 27 times this season in 148 games — 18.2 percent. The franchise record for games allowing double-digit runs is 28, which was set in 1930 (154-game season).
