Needless to say I'll take 80+ ugly wins over those we try hard 100 loss seasons.

They were very fortunate that Perdomo didn't cost them the game with his inability to throw strikes. Thankfully, the A's were swinging at everything once they got ball-3 and struck out.
Perdomo has a career-long history of wildness. In 11 years with 4 different organizations, he's appeared in only 25 MLB games totaling only 22.2 innings (and 23 walks). He was released by the Blue Jays after 7 years in their system without rising above high-A. He was waived by the Brewers and released by the Rays.
When he was recalled from Indy he had 16 walks in 22.2 innings. With the Brewers in 2020-2021 he walked 23 in 19.2 innings. In a total of 575 minor league innings, he averaged 4.7 walks per 9 innings. I know they were short on relievers last night but they dodged a bullet with Perdomo. He should never be used in high leverage situations, if at all.

I believe Bednar, Ramirez and Moreta were all unavailable. And Holderman was being saved for the 9th. So it was slim pickin's in the bullpen.

Jose Hernandez's last appearance was for 0.1 innings on June 3 against St. Louis. He's been a very pleasant surprise in the bullpen. I was surprised they went to Zastryzny over him in the 8th.
I do want to acknowledge Oviedo's performance though. Seven innings. two earned runs. I really believe he has potentially elite level stuff. I think if he harnesses it, he can be the best pitcher on the staff, even better than Keller. I look forward to every time he takes the mound.

At the point of the game Z-man came in, it was going to be high leverage regardless the inning. My guess is it being a tight game and could possibly go extra's, I think Hernandez was being saved for that possibility.

I recant anything bad I said about anyone on this team. Except Underwhelming.
