Dickerson return?

Post by notes34 »

I just saw that Dickerson is starting a long toss program. If and when he gets healthy what happens? There seems to be a number of guys playing well and there is a surplus here. I would look to trade someone for sure, but who? A smaller move like trading Melky and not getting much of a return or look at a bigger move that includes Marte or Polanco?

I hang on to Melky for his veteran's presence and ability to come off the bench and PH. Dickerson whom I really like would be the one I would trade for a warm body SP. I think Cory will walk at the end of the year unless he decides to take a 1 yr deal to re-establish his FA value in 2020. But with so many questions from hitters, SP and BP help needed now and in the future I would just as soon see the kids stay up and take their lumps this season and hopefully learn from the experience.

I had been a major opponent of trading Marte but my opinion has changed. If I could pry loose a decent young arm for Marte I would pull the trigger. He is still a valuable player even if he hasn't reached his full potential.

Keep Melky; he has been great and besides we would not get much for him. Keep Marte; he is our only SB threat and he is a solid defensive OF. I like both Reynolds and Dickerson.

I would trade Polanco for a solid SP or a highly rated SP ready to step into the majors.

Last year Marte got hurt and Meadows replaced him. Meadows was red hot and when Marte returned, they used a 4-man OF rotation so that nobody got enough playing time and it messed Meadows up. Then they optioned Meadows because he wasn't hitting as well. I suspect they'll repeat that until Reynolds slumps and then option him.
