The Reds are trying

Post by Ecbucs »

Even though they finished ahead of the Pirates (who beat them like a drum) the Reds say they are going to try and improve next year.

According to MLB Trade rumors their goal is to win next year. The payroll this year was $125 million

They say they will have more financial resources next year.

In the mean time, FC, NH and BN laugh at the Reds for wasting money.

On the issue of the Reds trying, here's an article from ESPN that's interesting.

This is potentially huge for the Reds. I’m left with the impression that the Reds are first and foremost a MLB operation, genuinely trying to compete with the rest of baseball. I have the impression of the Pirates starting every meeting with a review of financial numbers.

"I had a lot of interest, and multiple offers," Boddy wrote on Twitter. "The direction the Reds are going blew me away. Throughout the two months of interviewing, the Reds' opportunity just felt right. I am so thankful for the opportunity."

There’s a link to a Driveline article that ultimately ranks all teams.  I don’t know what their data is telling us but in a huge surprise for all of us I suspect, the Pirates are the 19th most successful franchise in developing pitching through the minors into MLB over the past 8 years. 19 is hardly good, but would would have imagined 11 other teams are worse.

Or maybe I’m misunderstanding what’s being ranked.

Supposedly its been the Pirates number one priority under NH, I wonder how the team would have ranked before NH was hired?
