Reds Could Soon Overtake Pirates

Post by MaineBucs »

I know that the Reds have a tough series against the Cubs this weekend, but the Reds are now within 2.5 games of overtaking the Pirates.

Not too long ago most talked about how the Reds were completely out of it and had no path forward. Sad to think that the Bucs may soon be the cellar dwellers in the NL Central after such a good and promising start to this season.

Also hard to market a team that is in the basement and has little hopes of being much better.

The Reds are 35-34 since Jim Riggleman took over. They were 3-15 before. Their starting pitching is weak, but the bullpen is pretty good, and in Votto, Suarez, and Gennett they have one of the best middle-of-the-orders in the NL.

After his appointment as manager, Riggleman received a lot of credit for conducting on-field instructional sessions prior to the games and improving accountability for both players and coaches. Though they are hardly a complete team, they are achieving at a much higher level than they ever did under Price.
