At least they have a hit and a run now. It was embarrassing to have Lyles throwing a no-hitter at them after 3 innings.

This will be 19 out of 23 losses after the break if this holds up tonight. Any other team in baseball if this was happening people would be losing their jobs. For this team to just continue to get its asses kicked liked this essentially every night anymore and nothing be done about it is an absolute disgrace. You don’t lose 19 out of 23 games it’s just completely unacceptable.

Why was he not pitching like this in his last several starts for the Pirates? Did he want out? Did our pitching philosophy get him untracked? What is going on with pitchers leaving Pittsburgh and improving tremendously.

Halfway thru the game the Pirates are only losing by 4 runs. And they even have a hit! This must be what TBMTIB meant when they said they expected the Pirates to be competitive this year. :D

Excellent questions. The list of pitchers getting noticeably better after leaving town is growing depressingly long. Of course, I'd be interested to see if Lyles continues to do well against actual Major League hitters, as opposed to the Pirates.

On the other hand, if Lyles did tank his last few starts to get traded, that's a bush league move.

Another 9th inning late comeback falls short yet again. Man is this bullpen bad. They always end up giving up just enough runs to still lose essentially every game. Like I said earlier tonight losing 19 of 23 is just completely unacceptable and any other team would have made big changes by now.

Pirates are now 5.5 Games Behind the team in front of them in the division (the Reds) and 5.5 Games Ahead of worst team in NL (the Marlins)
