This is players' weekend where they wear softball type uniforms with silly names on the back.

Wow. Brewers' pitcher Wade Miley gives a very awkward swing and misses an inside pitch. The swing looked awful. Greg Brown called it a "Josh Bell type swing." Yikes!

Pirates finally score TWO RUNS IN ONE GAME.

And of course they give up 4.

Two runs would have won lots of games in the past week.

Mark of a bad team ... always do just enough to lose.

No doubt that is an insult. In an earlier post today Bobster you noted how surprised you were that the coaches hadn't helped Bell with his swing. I truly wonder if they helped ruin it? I looked at some videos from his high school days. His swing looked more fluid back then than it does now. To me, his current swing appears to lose acceleration at points along its disjointed path. The Bucs should bar no expense in rectifying that swing. They invest each year in reclamation projects that amount to nothing...they need to reclaim the talent and power Josh Bell has inside him.

I heard an interview today with Hurdle talking about Bell's swing. He said Bell tries a lot of swings and needs to settle on something that works. So they're aware of the problem. But they don't seem to be doing much about it. This is certainly not a common problem for players. I just can't understand why a guy in his 7th year of pro ball has difficulty with both swinging the bat and throwing the ball. If he hasn't figured those things out by now, maybe, as Chuck Noll used to say, he needs to get on with his life's work.

Bell's hitting coach is his Daddy a former football player. No wonder he is messing around all the time. He needs a professional hitting coach. Perhaps the Bucs can hire the ghost of Charlie Lau!

Clay Holmes comes in an blows a 2 run lead after Brault pitched great for 4 innings and probably could have pitched another inning. Crick was available but not for Clint as he had a day off after having another day off. Is there any doubt in anybody’s mind now after this team activating Sean Rodriguez which is probably Clint’s decision based on his comments the other day, and Hurdle once again using Holmes in a big situation and it turning into a disaster that Hurdle needs to be fired.

Please get Holmes off of the roster!!!!

Blew the win tonight big time

He has no friggin business pitching in the ML.

Thanks a lot NH for bringing this stiff up. He sucks.

We have a 2 run lead in the bottom of the 15th.

We have 2 outs after he walks 2 guys. The Brewers have no one left on the bench so the relief pitcher has to hit

Holmes walks him on 5 pitches to load the bases.

You know what happens next. He grooves a pitch down the middle; 2 run single game is tied. 2 pitches later another hit and the Bucs lose 7-6.

Felt bad for Brault has he pitched 4 great extra innings to get it to the 15th.

What a waste of 5 1/2 hours. I can’t understand why this guy was recalled
