Evidently the Pirates are playing baseball like a kid cramming for a first period final exam on the bus.

Reynolds gets it to 3-2 but alas cant come through. As bad as they played the whole game I'm actually furious they gave that much hope.

Vintage Pirates loss.
Over the years of futility, they are often very good about rallying.
Very good about getting within 90 of tying the game.
VERY BAD at getting the clutch hit to actually, oh I don't know, maybe WIN the game?
Very, very, very bad.
Agree with other posters ... would rather go quietly and lose 3-0 than score 2 runs AND load the bases ... all while knowing the entire time that there is NO WAY they'll actually finish the deal. There was never any doubt.

And 2 of the Cubs runs were giftwrapped by the hapless Pirates. The first run scored on a 2-out dropped fly ball by Evans. The third run scored because a wild pitch moved runners to 2nd and 3rd where Baez scored on a sac fly after he had earlier been caught half way between 1B and 2B and was allowed to get safely back to 1B.

We almost stole this one. However, you are right. Too many dumb, stupid mistakes
