Nope.

This team just is so frustrating. If they would just play fundamentally sound, they'd win games like these.

Frazier's gaffe proves costly. The GOG vote will have a lot of candidates.

I can't remember a Pirate team in the last 20+ years that didn't begin in ST with the manager saying he would stress fundamentals. And I can't remember the last Pirate team that understood the fundamentals.

"Embarrassment" is a word that describes Pirate games all too often.

This game was not lost because of the difference in talent between the 2 rosters. It was lost because the Pirates fail to comprehend the game of baseball.

They had us all the way!

Swept!

And didn't look good in losing, even though the scores were close.

I turned the game off in the bottom of the eighth when Frazier ran us out of the inning. where in the hell was he going?

On another note, I would bet my house that Polanco and Pelez would not homer in the same game.

Here's an amusing recap of "The Play."

IDGAFF how embarrassing it might be. This is the time for Shelton to put his foot down. This will be the defining moment when he's interviewed, if ever, for another managing job

I agree that Shelton bears some part of the blame simply because he's the manager but 99% of it is on Will Craig.  I would think that every infielder above the age of 12 would've known what to do in that circumstance.  Why didn't Craig?  And why wasn't every other infielder sprinting towards him telling him to return to 1B and simply touch the bag?  And the entire bench should've been screaming at him, too.  That was inexcusable for any major league infielder and for all of his teammates who stood and watched.

Thinking about this further, I can't imagine it even occurred to Shelton and the coaching staff to review the force play rule, that they'd just assume that major league infielders would know it. But after spending last year with this group, he and his coaches should've realized that these guys are baseball-stupid and have no developmental foundation. They apparently know nothing. So I guess Shelton does bear more responsibility than I first thought.

I really didn't have much of an opinion about Shelton until this transpired today. He's proven over the past year and a half that he shouldn't be leading a major league club. He needs to be let go as soon as BC can arrange for someone who's suited for the job to take over.
