I can understand Tom not starting vs a RHP. Or a LHP. Or an ambidextrous pitcher. Or a pitching machine. But why isn't Gamel starting against a RHP? He's only hitting .348 over his last 9 games. Instead, Evans gets the start. Maybe his .209 BA or his current 2 for 17 streak was too much for Shelton to ignore.

I would agree that Evans shouldn’t be starting instead of Gamel, but neither should Polanco.  Gamel should be playing ahead of both of them.

Not wanting to wish time away but I’m looking forward to August 1 when we’ll no longer be wondering why Polanco is playing.

Shelton will say he needs a lefty coming off the bench when he takes Anderson out after 72 pitches

Is it just wishful thinking on my part or has Greg Brown been doing the bulk of the TV broadcasts so far this season? I lose track because when Joe Block does the TV I overlay the radio broadcast to avoid him. But it seems like I haven't had to do that very often.

It seems like every time I turn on the radio to listen to the game, Block is on. That's why I've hardly heard any games this year. I refuse to listen to him.
