Bucs @ Rockies, 8/8

The Bucs did what they had to do in the last 2 games of the series; they won. The beat a team who is ahead of them in the wild card standings and did so in their home park.

Frazier's contributions have been outstanding and so unexpected. If he can play acceptable defense at 2nd, he should continue to get many of the starts.

After his last concussion I stated that I hoped Cervelli never again performed as a catcher. While I still have significant concerns for is health, he made a great throw to second to nab Blackmon trying to steal (I thought that the replay showed that the tag was late).

I know that it is customary for players on the DL to stay with the team. That said, Rodriguez looks more like a mascot than a major league ballplayer, with everyone knowing that he isn't truly injured.

The good version of Nova needs to show up big time tonight in San Fran. He needs to go 6 good innings and keep the team in the game. The Bucs have a hard path to a play-off spot, but each win keeps the hope alive.

The Rodriguez thing is a complete and total utter embarrassment and it makes Hurdle and Huntington look ridiculous for keeping him around. I’m with you with Nova he is long overdue to give the Pirates one of his starts where he goes 6 or 7 innings and keeps his pitch count low. Hopefully tonight is one of those games. As Maine just said the road to the wildcard will be tough but every series win and win overall keeps the Pirates chances alive. We need a 5-1 stretch these next 6 games in both San Fran and Minnesota.

Vazquez entered with 2 outs in the 8th to face Iannetta. Iannetta smoked what looked like a game tying single past Frazier at 2B but Frazier made a sensational diving stab and thru to 1B for the 3rd out.

9th:

Blackmon hit a fly ball to medium LF.

LeMehieu hit a bouncer to 2B.

Dahl hit a high fly ball to CF in front of the track.

Vazquez was hitting 100+ pretty regularly.

Thanks

Is it true that Archer was sick to the point they were going to scatch him, and he asked them to let him pitch anyway?

Heard that today
