I noticed the ump was taller than Polanco (a quick google and he was 6'5"). Couldn't physically squat down to get decent angles. I've always thought shorter umps, who didn't have to bend or squat or do much to get good angles of the plate, were usually better. He could be the tallest ump in the MLB.

I caught an Uber with a driver in Boise who had umped in the minors for a dozen years. He umped AAA for a good part of that time but his evaluations were never good enough to get pushed up. It was pretty fascinating talking to him about his career.

Have to be honest, I'm stunned BC didn't deal both Stratton and Shreve at the TDL with the way some of the teams were paying for relievers. Shreve hasn't looked great the last two outings. If you were a betting man on which pitcher today would serve up a three-run dinger between Brault, Ponce, Keller and Shreve, you wouldn't pick the last option. Well ...
