3 years, $93M!

If this is correct, the Dodgers have lost their mind.

If he gets 60 wins a year this will be seen as a bargain.

What's the consternation? He's the best pitcher in baseball. He is only 30. He gave them a deal by not demanding a longer contract at similar numbers.

He has a 2.29 ERA...career.

He's a great pitcher until the post season begins. Then he has a career 9-10 record and 4.32 ERA.

I suspect his megacontract makes it unlikely they also sign Machado.

Plus he’s not the same pitcher - velocity down, injuries up. But let’s give him $31M a year. There is a reason why the Dodgers have not won a WS with all this talent and payroll.

This year Kershaw pitched the same number of innings as Nova, 9 fewer innings than Trevor Williams and won 5 fewer games than Williams. Kershaw has always been problematic in the post season and this year was no exception. This contract looks like Kershaw, who has already been paid 164 million in his career, is being paid for past performance. I guess 164 million wasn't enough.
