Another stellar effort by Williams, who leaves with a 2-0 lead. Let's hope the pen holds the Brewers in check.

This guy’s Cy Young good, at least this year.

EDIT

ERA now at 3.04

Last 15 games ??

Last 30 games ??

Jamison is 3.24.

Last 15 2.55

Nova 4.01

Musgrove 4.05

You can build around this unit.

If Archer can turn it around in '19, and with the back of our pen, this could be a very competitive pitching staff.

Another good win for the Bucs against the team with the 2nd best record in the NL.

You have to give the Brewers credit. Since the beginning of the year they have added players like Cain, Yelich, Chacin, Moustakas, Granderson, Gonzalez, Soria and whomever else I forgot. You have to give the Bucs credit for pretty much dominating them in 2018.

Williams has been flat-out incredible.

I certainly did not see it coming.

No way he can keep this up next year (I mean the 1.00 ERA over a half-season). Just no way. But hopefully he can be 75 percent as good as he is right now.

Brewers were VERY LUCKY last night that a 2-hour rain delay knocked out Nova. Otherwise the Pirates would be going for the sweep tomorrow.

Since July 8, Pirates are 38-27.

2nd-best record in the NL since that time, just 1/2 game behind the Cubs.

Yeah, but that’s kind of deceptive. I think that includes the eleven game winning streak, correct? 38-27 is 11 games over .500. In other words, remove one long winning streak, and they’ve been a .500 team since July 8.

Pretty impressive considering our general lack of power, Polanco being out, and starting a bunch of minor leaguers over the past three weeks.

Bob, maybe give us some bats please?

It goes that way for most good teams. You go on a streak and then you hang in there at .500 for a good chunk of the time. The Astros played .500 ball for a while in the middle of last season and then got hot again at the end. Nobody just wins two of three all year long, except maybe the Red Sox this year.
