Reds making real progress on J.T. Realmuto. If they land him, the Pirates are far and away the worst team in the Central.

in mlb trade rumor chat they said if J.T. goes to Reds the division will be dogfight with all teams in the 80-87 win range.

If the Pirates stand pat they are closer to the bottom but it shows there is potential for division if Bucs want to go for it.

If the Reds acquire Realmuto along with the additions they have already acquired, the Bucs will not dominate them as they did last season. I really believe the Pirates will be picked for last place in their division.

Hard to imagine anyone NOT picking the Pirates for last place even with rosters as they currently are. Reds don't need Realmuto to leapfrog the Bucs after already acquiring Puig, Kemp, Wood, Gray and Roark.
