Is $9 mpy the most a Pirates been paid? I don't think so. It's the largest total contract.
A good signing in today's game. I admit that I'm surprised that he bit so low, given that he's the son of a former MLB player.

Depends on how long he stays to get it. A lot can happen in 8 years. It's the largest overall contract, but not the highest ACV.

They've done it before, jus not as often as most would like. IIRC most people were excited about Polanco, then Marte and Cutch.
They had Tabata signed through 2016, with options through 2019. I think the only position players they took year-to-year were Mercer and Walker.

I thought the same thing. Are they talking with Reynolds about a long term deal? If not, I'd be fairly upset if I were Reynolds. He's proven over a few seasons that he's a real good major leaguer while Hayes has had one good month.
