I used to work for a concern that had 2,000 people with some variant of my title. There's 800 or so MLB players, drawn from the whole world.
That's true but it's no consolation when your 26 are not as good as everyone else's 26. For 20 straight years the Pirates had losing records with a roster of 25 of the 750 best players in the world.
