Newman to Injured List
The Bucs placed Kevin Newman to the IL and recalled Kevin Kramer. Newman has a laceration to his finger.

The Bucs may want to consider substituting Kramer for Frazier to play 2nd in the latter innings of a game if the Bucs have a lead. Bucs are now using this approach in RF with Cabrera and generally are doing the same at 3rd if Moran is the starter.
Fortunately, the Bucs have had a few leads going into the latter innings where defense could be a difference maker. Don't want to shatter Fraziers' confidence, but similarly don't want to see him botch a grounder.

Are you suggesting that the Buccos now employ 3 SRod type of players in the infield? And what do you say about turning Moran into a JHay type of guy who plays both corners and at least one OF position though not as good as JHay. With some versatility perhaps Moran will be more attractive to another club come July 31. Who knows maybe we can get the All-Star center fielder of the future in a deadline deal!

He was helping the staff put together a pitching machine and cut his finger according to what I read.

That’s amazing. I wonder if the players will begin helping the ground crew in getting the field ready. Come on Bob, do the players have to help with maintenance chores as well as playing?

Good for Newman. That sounds like the actions of someone who doesn't stand around and watch others do work. Or, to say it another way, a person who doesn't feel as if certain jobs are beneath him/her or someone else's responsibility. It sucks he got hurt, but if that was why he was doing that, good for him. We need more humans like that.
