The Cubs have 52 wins.  If they win 3-5 more games, the Pirates won’t be able to catch them.
You are probably correct, if they win a few more games it will be difficult to catch them. The Cubs are a shell of their team of a few weeks ago.

Yes they are, and it's great to see.  But they should be able to rebuild faster than BC because of who they traded.  Bryant, Rizzo, and Baez likely returned much better players than the guys Cherington dealt away.

It hasn't worked. Maybe they should sit him out on the curb and hang a sign around his neck that says, "Free".

I kind of wonder if the Cubs will attempt to resign any of these 3 free agents this offseason. If they would, that will improve their team much faster. As a large market team they have the resources to do that, and they avoid a possible rebuild.

115 losses in 2018, 108 in 2019, they are on a current pace for at least another 110 losses this season.

We haven't even begun to endure that kind of pain for our rebuild....yet

I don't agree with that.  I'd say that we have at least begun to.  We were the worst in MLB last season, and one of the worst now.  I don't think that we'll be as bad for as long as they have been, though.
