A woman named Marjorie Adams passed away on July 7. She was the great granddaughter of a man named Daniel "Doc" Adams (he had a medical degree from Harvard) who was a member/player with the Knickerbockers Club in 1845. He, as it turns out, not Alexander Cartwright, is credited with codifying 90' between the bases, nine players per side, and the nine inning format. In addition, he invented the shortstop position.
Marjorie Adams worked hard much of her adult life to have her great grandfather inducted into the Hall of Fame. His election came up two votes short a few years ago but he is on the ballot again coming up in December.
Cubs who were down 6-1 going into the ninth score 6 runs to beat the Cards. Seems to be happening more ofter since the crackdown on pitchers

Hitters are up to no good. Better be checking them for something. With some exceptions. The Pirates gave up 11 runs.

That name does sound familiar, I believe it has something to do with a pitcher by the name of Chris Archer

Giants take three of four from the Dodgers and have MLB's best record at 61-35.

Cubs wearing the home pajamas today with "Wrigleyville" on them. I also think it's WAY too soon to wear throwback 2021 All Star Game uniforms, especially since they're wearing the AL version.

The seemingly unbeatable Dbacks quickly fell behind the Cubs today 7-0 and lost 8-3.

Watching Orioles/Nats and O's starter Jorge Lopez has a 2-1 lead with a runner at 3B and 2 outs in the 5th. He's only thrown 82 pitches and given up 4 hits and 2 walks. O's mgr Brandon Hyde pulls him. Unlike the Pirate announcers who nightly lick Shelton's boots, Orioles broadcaster Jim Palmer groaned, "Oh no, he's not taking him out. He deserved better than that." The reliever got the 3rd out. But there seemed to be no reason for the move. Nice to hear an announcer call out a manager.
