I enjoy the mental side of baseball as much as the actual play. I was reading an article- wish I could remember where it was (somewhere online) about the work that Theo Epstein's been doing and some of the statitstics like this. I found it fascinating, including some of the ideas to address things without offending the fanbase.

It's the result of the classic "action/reaction" to many things in the game. "They're doing that, so we're going to do this"- type of stuff.

At any rate, it seems to me that a higher SO rate means that the ball's not in play as often, except back and forth from the pitcher's mound to the catcher's mitt.

the Phils have played one more game than the Pirates (just 437 strikeouts).

The Phillies do have 16 more homers and have scored 207 and the Bucs have scored 172.

Cutch has struck out 56 times but Rhys Hoskins has gone down 59 times and Alex Blom 57, Harper 45 ut he has missed 14 games.
Cutch currently batting 199

Us Pirates fans having gone through 20 years of losing, and then that awful post-All Star Game streak a few years ago, I feel badly for Orioles fans.

Phils are probably wondering why they gave him that large contract. I like Cutch, but he had the injury with Philly in 2019, and the past two years have not been very good seasons for him.

I haven't heard a complaint about Cutch alone. I have heard friends say that it's a shame that he got hurt. No one has a crystal ball. Injuries happen. Disappointing years happen, too. It's s cost of doing business. My guess is that they're not disappointed by what they paid him. They're disappointed more by what happened to him.

currently watching Braves- Nationals. Josh Bell is batting 204, 7 HR and 22RBI's I must say that Bell looks like he has slimmed down. On the other hand, Josh Harrison, the starting 2B for the Nats is batting 285

I thought Bell would be improved this season because he would have better hitters around him than he had in Pittsburgh. The season is still young enough that he could end up with good numbers.

As for Harrison, that's a surprise that he's doing as well as he is. I thought he had very little left in the tank. But again, the season's young and I'd think he'll fade as it rolls along.
