Diamondbacks blow a 4-0 lead, and lose their 10th straight. Orioles lose their 9th straight, in very Piratey fashion, as all three runs in the 3-2 loss come via the home run. Both teams stay behind the Pirates, who are just a half a game worse than the Rockies and Tigers.

My guess is it won't be too much longer, and the Rangers will be throwing their hat in the ring as the race to the bottom intensifies. I think KC got off to too good a start and just one game below .500 right now. I'm not ruling out one or possibly 2 of the NL East teams to join the fray for horrible, especially if one or two teams start putting distance out there. My bet is Washington will go tank mode.

As we are currently aware, there is no clear cut choice for this year's #1 pick. I think next year will be the same. The Pirates will definitely have one of the top picks so I don't think it matters if they don't get the #1.

Looking at #1s from 2010-2015 (picks since then have yet to make their mark in the majors) we see picking 1st doesn't always mean picking best:

2010: #1 Harper. Taillon 2, Machado 3, Chris Sale 13, Yelich 23. Production wise, Taillon was mostly a washout at #2 and it's debatable as to who is the best between #1, 3, 13 and 23.

2011: #1 Cole. But you couldn't go wrong with Rendon (6), Lindor (8) or Springer (11).

2012: #1 Carlos Correa. No other standouts from Rd 1.

2013: #1 Mark Appel. Better picks were Chris Bryant (2), Aaron Judge (32) or anyone else.

2014: #1 Brady Aiken (who?). Aaron Nola 7, Trea Turner 13, Matt Chapman 23, anyone else.

2015: #1 Dansby Swanson. Alex Bregman 2.

The race in the NL East is crazy. 3 games from top to bottom and only one ( Mets) is above 500

with him, Realmuto and Gregorious out, they are in deep s^&(. Not hitting or fielding well at all, and Segura and Girardi at odds.

This could get real ugly, real fast
I thought Segura and Girardi had patched things up.
doesnt seem like it. Now Girardi is shutting down the press on certain subjects

Not in the meatgrinder known as Philadelphia - these writers are ruthless

the Phils have played one more game than the Pirates (just 437 strikeouts).

The Phillies do have 16 more homers and have scored 207 and the Bucs have scored 172.

Cutch has struck out 56 times but Rhys Hoskins has gone down 59 times and Alex Blom 57, Harper 45 ut he has missed 14 games.
