Trade deadline salary contest

Post by shedman »

What will the Pirates 26 man team salary be after the trade deadline as listed by COTS. Currently the 26 man team salary is listed at $45, 234,000. I will go first with my guess at $29,134,400.

That's not necessarily the "current" figure. That's listed as the 26 man opening day roster salary total. I'm certain the two are very close though.

You don't have any parameters for this. COTS doesn't list a "current" 26 man salary, only as of 4/1/2021.

Polanco is on the IL right now. If he's on the IL after the trade deadline, his salary wouldn't be part of the 26 man roster. Are you adding up the salaries yourself? So does one have to hope their guess comes down to him being on the IL or not?

COTS doesnt update the salaries on a daily basis. Case in point, right now they list 32 player salaries. Chasen Shreve is currently on the roster, they don't even show a salary for him. Or Rodolfo Castro. Or Max Kranick. Or Wilmer Difo. Or Jared Oliva. Or Cole Tucker. Or Chase DeJong. Or Kyle Keller.

Of the 32 listed, these players have salaries listed that aren't part of the 26 man roster right now:

Steven Brault, Gregory Polanco, Colin Moran, Trevor Cahill, Phillip Evans, Duane Underwood, Blake Cederlind, Mitch Keller, Louis Oviedo, Jose Soriano, Ka'ai Tom

Please clarify how you derived at the "current" 26 man team salary of $45,234,000 because that isn't from COTS as you say.

The actual 26 man salary as of the guys on the 26 man roster from 7/9/202 (the last game played, last night) would be:

INCOMPLETE.....because of the aforementioned players who don't have a figure. So I will go with the MLB minimum of $570,000 for any player that is listed without a salary, unless I find salary information somewhere else, plus I'll list the players by name and salary on the CURRENT 26 man roster:

Tyler Anderson $2,500,000

David Bednar $579,000

JT Brubaker $590,500

Kyle Crick $800,000

Wil Crowe $574,000

Austin Davis $588,000

Chase De Jong $570,500 (from spotrac)

Clay Holmes $650,000

Sam Howard $596,000

Kyle Keller $570,500 (from spotrac)

Chad Kuhl $2,130,000

Richard Rodriguez $1,700,000

Chasen Shreve $1,500,000

Chris Stratton $1,100,000

Michael Perez $591,500

Jacob Stallings $1,300,000

Rodolfo Castro $570,500 (from spotrac)

Adam Frazier $4,300,000

Ke'Bryan Hayes $589,500

Kevin Newman $598,000

John Nogowski $571,300

Cole Tucker $570,500 (from spotrac)

Wilmer Difo $1,000,000 (from spotrac)

Ben Gamel $1,500,000

Jared Oliva $570,500 (from spotrac)

Bryan Reynolds $601,000

The current 26 man roster salary (nothing pro-rated, as would be the case for a good many of these guys, but you've already made this complicated, not to mention completely erratic, incomplete, and incorrect) is nothing close what you posted, which was a complete lack of knowing what you were looking at on your part. As there is some minor discrepancy for guys who haven't even hit arbitration eligible between COTS and spotrac (Ke'Bryan Hayes e.g. is listed as minimum on spotrac at 570,500) I admit even this figure might not be 100 percent correct, but it is by far way closer to the fictitious number you posted:$27,211,300

That folks, is the CURRENT 26 man roster salary, which will change by the time you probably read this, as players move up and down, especially the relief pitchers.

COTS most certainly does list a 26 man team salary and it is $45,234,000.  The point of using COTS is so that there are no arguments about who is counted or who isn't counted, or, for that matter, if COTS is even correct.

Of course you intentionally avoid the facts. Once again, the COTS figure is from OPENING DAY, NOT CURRENT.

I'm not disputing that number. I'm disputing you using it as the current number.

So anyhow, for anyone else jumping into the contest, keep in mind that COTS does not have an updated figure, it only has the figure of 4/1/2021, which is clearly pointed out on their site.

How he'll decide what the 26 man salary is after the trade deadline is beyond me, because unless COTS decides to do an update then, he'll have to add them up as I did.

Good luck! I'm done with this thread. Can't help those who refuse to listen.
