As much as I think filling the shortstop position with quality is imperative, being able to get a top-notch catcher when possible takes precedence in this case for me, so I'd choose Davis. The high school shortstops scare me because they're just 18 years old. Of course, Newman was a senior in college when he was taken #1 and we've seen how that's worked out.

Update:

After Leiter gives a dominating 15K performance but comes out with a 1-0 loss; Rocker follows with an 11K 1BB 3-1 win

Vandy forces a deciding game tomorrow against NCS

Meanwhile the draft projections still have the Pirates selecting Marcelo Mayer. Texas projected to take Leiter #2
