The $106m for 8 years has to be mistakenly reported.  That makes no sense to me. I would have expected him to get $20m per

That's why I can't for the life of me understand why people thought it would be a good idea to take the offseason-rumored deal that would have gotten them one extra year for like 100MM more money.

Reynolds must like living and playing here because I think he could’ve waited until free agency and ended up making more money. I’m not blaming him, there’s more to a contract than just the money. As a Pirates fan, I’m glad he’s staying.

Here's hoping this is the first of several extensions. Keller and Contreras next (hopefully this summer) and Cruz to follow.



Cruz would likely get his next season, but it would be wise to start the negotiation now and show him they want him long term.
