Eureka! Somehow Michael Perez went unclaimed on waivers and has been outrighted to Indy. He still has the option to refuse the assignment and try to parlay that .143 BA into a lucrative FA contract. Stay tuned for more news on the Perez front as it breaks!

former Pirate farmhand Alex Dickerson released by Giants. Way back in 2013 the Bucs traded him for Jaff Decker and Miles Mikolas.

Interesting article about it on MLB Trade Rumors. The prospects they got for him are not as good as the ones they gave the Pirates for him. The last paragraph suggests it was a salary dump.

The Padres have hired Franciso Cervelli as their new catching instructor. He replaces Rod Barajas.

I just don't understand the Stallings trade and the Catche(Perez) that received 2.5 million more than what Stallings would have received. Maybe someone can enlighten me

They must feel the players they received for Stallings are players who will develop into good major league players. It does seem that BC is stock piling pitchers with the hopes some will have success at the big league level.
