Nick Kingham was dfa’d today by the Blue Jays. He was 3-1 for them with an earned run average of 3.00. I am surprised they have designated him. I just noticed he has been on the IL since early August with a strained oblique. I assume they are going to attempt to pass him through waivers, and if unclaimed send him to the minors.

In his last 6 games he has a 1.84 ERA over 14.2 innings. I'm surprised he was DFA's. I'd like to see the Pirates take another chance with him. He's no worse and has more upside than Hartlieb, McRae, Holmes, DuRaupau, Stratton, Neverauskas, Davis, Agrazal and Escobar.

Cervelli left tonight’s game with an apparent leg injury. There was no additional news regarding his status.

Lyles is now 4-1 with a 2.51 era with the Brewers. What made him become a winning pitcher, after several awful starts with the Pirates ? Is it Searage, pitch selection, his hope to get out of Pittsburgh? His last several starts with Pittsburgh were very bad.

Glasnow is to be activated to start on Sunday. He is only going to pitch 2 or 3 innings.

Yesterday (9/8) was the anniversary of Roberto Clemente's 3 triple day at Forbes Field in 1958. This was Danny Murtaugh's first full season as manager and the year the Pirates went from being MLB's laughingstock of the 1950s to a 2nd place finish. Clemente grounded out in the 1st inning and then tripled in his next 3 ABs in the 4th, 5th and 8th. He was out at the plate trying to stretch the 5th inning triple into an inside the park home run. The Pirates defeated the Reds 4-1. Curt Raydon pitched 6 innings giving up 1 unearned run. LH reliever Don Gross pitched the final 3 innings giving up no runs, hits or walks. Smoky Burgess and Don Hoak played for the Reds.
