I have to admit, for a moment I was seriously wondering if the Bucs should call for a suicide squeeze instead of letting Polanco swing away.

Gabe Kapler said Giants saw Polanco pass the runner at first, they asked home plate ump to see if there was any way that could help them. Tom Hallion confirmed the run counted.

If that were the case, every time a player from the 3B dugout team popped out with a man at 1B and less than 2 outs, an additional out would be charged just for running passed the bag where the runner stayed put and turning left to trot across the infield back to the 3B dugout. I hope Kapler is embarrassed for pleading such a stupid case to the ump.
