1 year, 2.75 million.

So, he is the answer to replace Polanco during his absence?

Looks that way. He hasn't been healthy in 2 years. Who will the RH platoon be for him in RF? Pablo Reyes?

I would hope they sign another player as insurance if Chisenhall is not 100% due to his previous injuries.

I wonder why the Indians didn't try to resign him? Will be interesting to see what the Tribe does as far as outfielders go.

He is certainly worth the risk for the Bucs.

He really needs to be able to have an injury free year.

I think it would be really hard to convince a player to sign on to be a half-year replacement for someone. It would take a situation like this, where a player wants to rebuild value, for it to work.

That makes sense especially considering that TBMTIB does not have a very high pay scale.

John Dreker at P2 is reporting that Ken Rosenthal tweeted that Chisenhall's contract is a base $2.75 million with the following incentives:

Rosenthal added that the deal has incentives as well based on playing time. “Chisenhall’s deal also includes a series of performance bonuses: $250K each for 250 plate appearances, 300-350-400, $500K each for 450-500-550-600”

Dreker goes on to say that "If he’s playing full-time, the deal could go as high as $5.75 M. You would assume that if he somehow does reach 600 plate appearances, then that $5.75 M figure would be a bargain because he’s playing every day. The only way he reaches any of those last four incentives is if he is both healthy all season and playing well."

Seems that Chisenhall could be taking over the Serpico role.

I really hope this signing indicates that Polanco will be ready in June. I think Chisenhall could replace Polanco's production, but he's unlikely to stay on the field.

As of right now, they have to be counting on Dickerson, Marte and Cervelli/Diaz matching last year's production and big improvements from Bell and Moran.
