Even if they end up tied, Pirates get the #1 because they had a worse record than the Rangers in 2019

Has that been confirmed as the tiebreaker? Despite news reports, I haven't seen a confirmation from MLB that 2020 records alone would determine draft order.

Ben, I don't know if this qualifies as "confirmation," but DK Sports is reporting the same thing--the No. 1 now belongs to the Pirates by "virtue" of a worse record last year.

There is no "confirmation." What we have is people very close to MLB saying it's almost a given that they are going to determine the draft order by the 2020 record. It seems logical that this is how they will and should do that. But is there still a possibility , we could have a lottery or some kind of blend of 2019 and 2020 records ? Dunno....

It is so exciting to see who the Pirates will pick for the Yankees with the 1st pick.

This is a topic that has fascinated me. Different GMs take different routes in their efforts to build a winner. Huntington decided pitchers were difficult to obtain by trade so started drafting heavy in that area. The Cubs GM went with position players (they play most every day and accordingly should have a big impact on team results. I sort of leaned to the position player approach, as hitters bring excitement and more attendance (and statistically, more of them reach the majors), and more attendance in theory brings more money to apply to payroll, etc. And then, after five years, if they get traded . . .

At any rate, I'm eager to see which direction BC goes. Those first two picks should be interesting.

You mean- squirrels.....those furry rats with tails that don't do much of anything, but work for.....NUTs?

Some of them don't even bother to look. They just live off stuff they got in other trees years ago.

Texas winning again tonight, and if the lead stands they will have 21 wins for the season. This will secure that they get the #2 draft pick in 2021.
