The Reds got better today with the signing of Mike Moustakas. That ballpark in Cincinnati will be perfect with him because he will be able to reach the seats very often. As it stands today the Bucs will have a tough time getting out of the basement of the Central Division.

They would need way too many pieces to compete this year. I'm guessing it's a rebuild, with some young talent getting a shot.

They will have no chance to escape the cellar in 2020.

Especially after Marte is traded

I would have killed (well, that might be going too far) for Moose here. But, if money is spent, we need pitchers. Our rotation has disaster written all over it.

nice deal for him:

The Reds have agreed to a deal with free agent infielder Mike Moustakas, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network (Twitter links). It’s a four-year, $64MM pact for the Scott Boras client, according to reports from Heyman and Jeff Passan of ESPN.com (via Twitter).

How shocking that Boras did not steer Moustakas to the Pirates. :)

It also looks like the Reds plan to use him at 2nd. By the end of his contract he will have the range of a statue at 2nd.

I know that 2nd is now considered an offensive position, but it also helps if the player can offer at least some D.

It sounds like the Reds are close to signing Castellanos. His addition will make their lineup very tough. It is a tough call but they now may be a better team than the Cardinals. They have some good starting pitching, and their hitters are going to be very good in that small ballpark.
