Here are the top 11 excuses and alibis for not acquiring a player.

1. He is an aging veteran on the decline.

2. He is too injury prone.

3. Acquiring him would bring us no closer to a championship.

4. He would never sign to play in Pittsburgh.

5. He would be a clubhouse cancer.

6. Acquiring him would upset the team chemistry.

7. Signing him would lose financial flexibility for a 1 year player.

8.We already have players just as good as him.

9. We are not the Red Sox or Yankees and they would outbid us.

10.He would block this LMG or that LMG from development.

11.He can't do anything because of Covid.

That would be #8.

Let me amend #8 for you here in 2021:  "We already have players just as bad as him."

I find it interesting that you want to sign guys who would take the club from being one that won 32 percent of its games a year ago to one that would win 36 percent of its games in 2021.  I thought you wanted to win a World Series title.  At your rate of improvement, neither of us will be on this side of the dirt when it happens.  Some fan you are.

If we follow the status quo, we will never win a WS.

So, I'd take gradual improvement over no improvement.

The Pirats have hired Christian Marrero as their Assistant hitting coach.  Good news!  Now Cherington can focus all of his energies to finding an assistant to the assistant hitting coach.
I nominate Dwight Schrute.

I second the nomination!  Then if shed looked at the PG article there seems to be some method to BC's move.  I wish that this thread had some method to it's madness other than playing armchair GM with monopoly money!

It's been so long since I played Monopoly. What is the cheapest property? Was it Baltic?.. Bob will know!!

Yeah, but they said " He should have a chance to compete for a spot in the Reds' Opening Day bullpen in 2021."
