I had hopes for Tarpley when he was in the Orioles' low minors. When the Pirates acquired him and Brault for Travis Snider, I thought Tarpley was the better of the 2 pitchers. But that was 5 years ago and he still hasn't established himself in MLB while dealing with a lot of injuries.

I have researched the matter, and I am unable to find anywhere that says this is a major league contract, thus no score at this point. However, if he makes the team out of spring training, he will be scored at that point.

I have researched the matter, and I am unable to find anywhere that says this is a major league contract, thus no score at this point. However, if he makes the team out of spring training, he will be scored at that point.
Tarpley spent the entire season on the Marlins roster (including injured list) with a major league contract. At no time was he in the minors in 2020. His salary for the reduced season was $208,704. Marlins recently DFA'd him. Had he cleared waivers he could have been outrighted to AAA on a minor league contract. But that didn't happen. He was waived and selected off waivers by the Mets. So the Mets must pay him at least the MLB minimum or try to get him through waivers to outright him to AAA and put him on a minor league contract. The Mets didn't have the option of selecting a major league player from waivers on a minor league contract.
