Played in the majors for 7 years (Marlins, Cubs, Dodgers), mostly a backup catcher. Was mentioned a few times in Moneyball as well, and was part of the draft detailed in the book.
Was with the Cubs before working for MLB last year, important and good hire.

I do think he has a plan, and he is not going to make a trade or acquire a player just to make a splash. He has brought some front office people on board who have strong player development reputations in baseball. Sure the Bucs did not win at least 20 games in 2020, but in my opinion better days are coming under this current FO group.

As some may recall, back in the early days of FC/NH there was a very definite plan for building a player development juggernaut that would compete at a top level every year. Unless I've missed it, I don't think that they've issued such a mission statement yet. That leads me to believe that what we're seeing is the unfolding of the plan for year two.
