To end at 50 wins, that means going 16-56 after the Break, a .222 winning percentage.  Unless BC trades Frazier, Reynolds, and Rodriquez, they should manage that.

To end at 59 wins, they need to go 25-47, a .347 winning percentage, which would be an improvement on how they've played since those first 23 games.  A lot of things would have to go right, even with no one being traded, for that to happen.

So indeed, it looks like they'll end up around 55 wins, give or take a couple of games.

With regard to runs scored, so far the Bucs have plated 319 runners, an average of 2.82 per game.  If they maintain that pace, they'll end the season with 457 total runs scored.  With regard to our contest, Javy is closest with his prediction of 544 runs scored.  Yikes!

very enlightening!  One minor correction team has scored 319 runs in 90 games so that is average of 3.54 so if they average that for the season the runs scored would be 574.  Of course who thinks the team can maintain this pace?

Oops!  Thanks for that.  I divided their 319 runs by 162 games  I thought the 2.82 runs was too low.  Math is hard.  Three out of every two people don't understand it.

not that I'm a math wizard but I think it is very possible that they don't score 200 runs in next 72 games.

I don't think it's unreasonable to think that. When only Frazier, Hayes, and Reynolds can hurt opposing teams, it's logical to think they'll be pitched around at every run-producing opportunity. And if Frazier is traded, it won't be pretty.

I see that 28 members are participating in the contest. As of today, there are 58 games left. In order for the bucs to avoid losing 100, they would have to finish 23-35 which would be 63-99. Very tall order. Especially when they will be probably playing a lot of call ups. Does anyone think it's possible?

I think everyone's in the same boat with this now, right? Everyone goes to 28 players?

Well I'm done! No way the boys win 70. Looking like 55-58 seems about right.

Say what you want about the Pirates but they bring consistency to Pittsburgh. Steelers and Penguins can surprise you from year to year but you can count on the Pirates sucking. 2022 will be no different.

Really would love to see a salary cap in MLB just for the joy of watching the storied franchises struggle with it. Mr. Nutting would have no problem with it.

What we need is a commissioner that cares about the game and not just the Yankees and dodgers and other rich teams.

Fay Vincent was fired (or resigned first) because he put the interests of baseball ahead of the owners. Since then the commissioner has been someone the owners can trust to do their bidding.

BUCS having a little trouble getting to win #50 but I'm guessing they will get there. Guys in the mid 50's will enjoy last week of season.

Phillies still in race and I know there fans are happy to have us there for 4 games. If we could just split somehow it would be a minor bright spot in yet another dismal season with more to follow.

Beat em BUCS! Go Steelers!
