He fixed something that wasn't broke and then he found out what broke really looks like.
Now I'm looking forward to two guys, Shelton and Polanco, being shown the door. It can't come too soon.
No problem showing Pooplanco the door but who would take the Rinky-Dinky's managerial job?
I'm sure there are some AAA managers who would jump at the chance to get a job managing a MLB team. I don't know what the interview process was for hiring Shelton but he comes across as dumb as a box of rocks. They need someone a lot smarter.

I haven't given it any thought, Possum, but I imagine that BC and his staff know lots of guys throughout many of the other organizations who have demonstrated managerial abilities who they can interview. I'd start with the people in Tampa and Oakland.

_______
It was a very short interview as follows:
Cherington: Mr. Shelton, you don't seem to know a lot about baseball.
Shelton: Well maybe not, but I will learn fast on the job.
Cherington: You have no experience managing people.
Shelton: Yeah, but I will learn fast on the job.
'
Cherington: What are your salary demands?
Shelton: None.
Cherington: Good, you are hired. Bob will love you.
