Good signing. Good defense and speed. We're going to stink this year. He will make the games shorter for the fans and pitching staff.

The Trib reported Dyson's rather candid rationale for signing with the Pirates. Not exactly brimming with enthusiasm as noted by Tim Benz:

When Dyson — previously a free agent without a better offer — was asked why he chose Pittsburgh, this is what he said.

“Ain’t too much out there right now, you know,” Dyson responded. “You’d love to explore. But at the same time, you take what you can. Take the good with the bad and roll with it. Make the most of it.”

Wow! What a ringing endorsement of his new team.

“Pittsburgh Pirates baseball: Make the most of it.”

In the same piece Ben Cherington stated that they is no plan of any more additions either trade or free agent at this time.

It is what it is. This year is lost, there isn't any need to waste additional resources. Dyson will be fine defensively and will steal bases. Hopefully he helps us secure the no. #1 pick. ;D

I would much rather see Dyson play in the OF rather than a 20 year old minor leaguer as we watch the 18th year in a row of "seeing what the kids can do".
