Let's see how long BC/DS let him go. They like the BP to pitch as much as possible and they don't seem to know how to develop young pitchers. When a starter is doing well, it always seems they pull him rather than let him gain confidence by pitching longer into games.

Yep, here we go. Contrera pulled after 78 pitches because he induced a routine ground ball to SS that Cruz threw away.
BC/DS look for any excuse to pull a starter. They must be glad that Cruz threw that ball away.

Roansy could have made it through but Cruz throws the ground ball away for an error and it is time to sit Roansy down for the night.

This is why they can't develop pitching prospects. Contreras was pitching great but his manager (probably on phone with GM) was looking for any excuse to pull him. (Even Brown and Wehner said as much.) A routine 2-out grounder to SS at 78 pitches is not a sign that the pitcher is fading. All this good outing by Contrera proved is that his team has no faith in him. And we wonder why their top pitching prospects never reach their potential until they go to another team.

Nice 2-out SB by Heineman and RBI single by Reynolds! 4-1.

Holderman puts the Sox down in order in an unorderly fashion. Onto the 9th.
